This is my nephew, Ben, and my mum looking at the iPad together.
My mum is nearly 81. She is very bright and articulate but she has never really understood computers, even though she insisted on buying a new one earlier this year. She calls email ‘enumbers’ and complains constantly about it being ‘broken’. (Although we’re getting off lightly – another friend’s mum regularly rings her in tears because she can’t get the hang of it.)
Anyway, on Sunday afternoon Ben showed my mum the ‘Talking Ginger’ app, which is basically a little animated ginger cat that can mimic your voice. My mum LOVED it and couldn’t stop playing it. So there you are. She may not be able to switch a computer on, but my mum can use an app on an iPad.
*Proud face*
*This is my entry for The Gallery – the theme this week is Back to School
LOL love this. I do wonder what wonders of technology we’ll have when our kids are parents and are on the phone to us going mad cause we can’t get the hang of it!
Never too old! Or too young I have found *wrestles computer away from toddler*
What a lovely picture, a lovely story and a lovely sideways look at ‘back to school’!
Great stuff 🙂 Its nice to know you are never too old to learn x
Haha! This is fabulous, my granda got himself a little laptop, his phone calls are hilarious. There is a little swell of pride when you see them doing these things! Love that photo.
‘work out how’ were the missing words there! 😉
Ah, my mum has an iPad and my daughter has talked her through a couple of apps! She’s still trying to out how to make friends on Facebook!
Ipads are much easier for people- not so many buttons!
Well done your mum 🙂
Your mum is so cool! Love her style!
I taught a 65yr old lady how to use a computer and the internet from scratch which was really rewarding, she uses it to nosy at peoples houses on Rightmove! 🙂
That’s so lovely! Way to go your Mum!
I wish my Mum was so prepared to try things – she freaks out if her mobile rings, or she needs to attach an document to an email. The one time I showed her my smartphone she insisted that she couldn’t look at it as it made her feel sick!
