I’ve been a fan of French skincare company Yon-Ka for a while now – although their products aren’t cheap, they are scientifically proven which means that you should get what you pay for, and they do last a while.
So when they asked me if I’d like to try out their Advanced Optimizer range of course I said yes.
Yon-Ka Advanced Optimizer Creme (£56) is rich in silicum (NB not silicone), and promises to help visibly diminish the appeareance of fatigue lines and wrinkles and give the skin a ‘lift’ effect. I used it over a three-week period and you know what? My laughter lines did look a little less obvious, and my skin, while not exactly radiant, certainly appeared brighter. I couldn’t say I looked any less jowly but that’s probably more to do with my love of chocolate than anything else.
The Optimizer Serum (£69) is made from 100% pure flower peptide anti-ageing technology, which sounds very appealing. It’s easy to apply, not at all oily, and it did make my skin look noticeably fresher. Not ‘youthful’, exactly, but definitely better.
Definitely worth it if you want to give your skin a boost – particularly during the Christmas season, and aftewards. You’re supposed to use both products together but if you only have budget for one, I’d go for the Creme. It’s not a miracle worker, but comes pretty close.
