My youngest nephew was eight on Saturday but he still loves Build-A-Bear Workshop® – and I know he’ll love these new Halloween bears. They’re not really very scary – but very very cute!
The Festive Fairy Fun Fleece Owl has a light-up fairy outfit, while the Orange Hello Kitty is sure to be the best dressed at any Halloween party.
And I’ve teamed up with Build-A-Bear Workshop® to give two lucky winners the chance to go in store and make and dress a Halloween bear*.
All you have to do to enter is to leave your answer to the following question below by the closing date, next monday. Usual The Mum Blog competition rules apply. Good luck!

Q: What do your kids love about Build-A-Bear Workshop®?
Hi I think I was one of the winners I have sent you an email, we are very excited. Thank you.
My daughter is a Halloween baby and will be turning 2 this October. I was slightly too old when the build-a-bear stores started opening, so will probably be just excited as my daughter when we make our first bear together. I have taken her in there before and she had very wide eyes and a massive smile and was very sad to leave. I am trying not to spoil her too much, so was waiting for an occasion to treat her to a bear.
my eldest (5) went to build a bear with the school to make a speial bear called jessie and the best behaved child gets to take it home on a friday to keep fo the weekend. after his go, i was forced into the shop to buy him one and he wants more lol. his baby brother is bearless too 🙂
My little ones love creating their new best friend and deciding on the outfits. They already have several cuddly friends and there is plenty of room for more.
Thank you to everyone who entered, the competition is now closed. The winners are:
Fenngirl
and
Suzanne Cooke
Please email me your addresses via the contact form (with your nearest build-a-bear workshop, if you know it) – and congratulations! x
We take our nieces and nephews. Never really interested in picking the bear a heat an outfit or watching the fluff go in. No. They like the computer at the end?!
They love the amount of choice they have. It also makes them feel really special having a bear made just for them.
My kids love the fact that the build a bears they own have the same date of birth as they do. I made my mum get them one on the day they were born. Elizabeth (3) loves looking at the birth certificate.
My 8 year old daughter loves the range of accessories that are available for the bears x
My daughter loves the whole experience from picking the bear to giving it that special touch with accessories and it’s own heart. She loves the birth certificate making it all even more unique – well done Build a Bear workshop!
My kids love all the accessories and to be honest so do I they are so cute and such a range. They also love the fact that it feels so ‘theirs’ they made it so no one else could possibly have the same, at school they all show off the differences between the bears. Also my daughter loves going on the website with her own unique number x
my daughter loves her “build a bear” sleepovers where her friends and the bears all share stories and secrets.
What don’t they love?! My daughter is nutty about build-a-bear! She has bought a bear every year on her birthday for the last 6 years! And of course the bears need clothes…..oh my!
my daughter made her very first bear for her 4th birthday – she called it Polly and takes it everywhere with her, she loves the fact that she got to make it herself and put the heart in, but most of all that when you squeeze its arm it says I love you in her daddys voice – whenever we go past now she says that’s where you get the love you bears from 🙂
The amount of choice
My daughter loves the clothes! She has never actually been to the Build a Bear workshop as her birthday trip there last year was snowed off, btu she has a 2nd hand bear and a few outfits that she constantly undresses and redresses ‘to make her beauty’. She’d love to make a spooky bear!
My little boy loved the fact that you actually got to make a bear all of your own. He didn’t believe me until he saw it for himself lol.
My children are fascinated with build a bear workshop! they love picking a bear watching him get stuffed and chosing how full they would like him / her but all of our favouite part is leaving a message recording
They love the whole experience – but probably the clothes shopping is the most fun! My youngest one loves the wardrobe she got on her last visit – it was a god send over the rainy summer hols as it took her almost 3 days to colour it all in and decorate it to her liking!!
My children love watching the bears get made, watching all of the stuffing getting whisked up and the hearts being put inside. It’s a wonderful place for children to really feel part of creating their special bear.
My children loved choosing the bear and how soft it was. My son chose a panda bear, which for some reason he calls Ning Ying! It is still his best toy. My 5 year old daughter loves buying clothes for the cat that she chose and changed her outfit every few days =)
Thank you for the lovely give away.
It would be quicker to say what she doesn’t like about Build a Bear – nothing! At 9 years old she still loves the whole experience from start to finish and would go there every day if she could. We even have to get Birthday Cards and presents for her existing bears
My little girl has never been to Build a Bear, but we saw one of the shops and she begged to have a go, this would make her very happy!
My eldest daughter Danielle will be 5 in 2 weeks time and this will be a lovely present for her, she loves build a bears, we bought her once before about 2 years and she still have it until now.
my daughter adores her Build a Bears because she ‘made them’
My kids love to stuff the bears and see them take shape, then they spend ages picking out the outfits. The bears end up being more special to them as they created them
my kids love this exerience, and love to win this,as my daughter loves hello kitty, from the different colours and outfits, she take always one to bed at night with her xxplzzzzzz:)
good luck
My daughter, at 9, is still build-a-bear mad! She loves making a bear and choosing clothes and accessories. She also loves having her Birthday Party at Build-a-Bear and sharing the experience with her friends.
They love the whole shop, from picking the bear, to filling, to naming, to picking outfits!!
she loves choosing the bear and all it’s clothes
My kids love that they get to choose everything themselves and help make their teddies
My kids love picking the clothes and trying to pick a bear. There are just too many to choose from which normally means a hell of a long time spent instore 🙂
My boys love the whole process of
Choosing a teddy,Picking a sound,Putting a little heart in (always give it a kiss first), then watching him veing filled. Choosing a name .
Its more personal than picking a ready made teddy from the shelf
My daughters never been in Build a Bear though she always asks when we go past the shop. She would absolutely love to go in.
my mum took my son to buid a bear and he talked about their #’real hearts’ for weeks….magical place for children!
My four children have all bee lucky enough to have had the opportunity to build a bear! They loved the fact that they could create their own bear from scratch – the type/colour of the bear, the clothes etc Ad then from this, they could choose a name and then create a personality, a history and a whole new world for their bear! My eldest daughter has even created her own story book about her bear and we have taken photos of her bear to add to her book. Her bear is a princess bear and she takes it everywhere with her – she calls it Kate!!! My youngest daughter has a similar bear and my two older boys have a footballer bear and a farmer bear!
We were due to go to Build-A-Bear for O’s birthday in July this year, but due to financial woes, had to cancel. It would be great to take him if we won the comp. Build-A-Bear seems like great fun – love the little rock star bear outfits
My daughter loves choosing all the outfits while my foster son will spend hours watching the stuffing swirl around in the machine.
My 3 daughters have all had the chance to build their own bears over the years, but my little 2 year old son has still never been – winning this competition would be amazing, his face would just light up xxxx
Hannah says the best part is stuffing the teddies when she is making them to see them come to life. She and Isobel (older sister) are both B-a-B addicts ….
My daughters have build a bears which they adore, but they were Santa gifts so they’ve never actually experienced making their own. They’d love it! Particularly the Orange Hello Kitty!!
My daughter loves choosing a heart because it makes the experience so much more special for her. She says she is bringing her buddy to life. 🙂
I love that every time I go in there theres something new for my children to buy for their existing bears or new bears to buy…went in there recently and they had Smurfs – super cute!!
My children love the fact that they can personalise their bear to suit their own character.
My daughter loves making the birth certificate getting to choose their special name
@littleboo_21
My daughter loves it all. It’s hard to get her out the shop. She loves pulling the teddies around on their roller skates best.
She’s love a haloween bear – probably that Hello Kitty one!
My little one is 10 months old and whenever we take her to build a bear she has the biggest smile on her face and gets so excited by all the colours and teddies there. She loves soft toys and cant wait to pull them down and hug them all. She was born on 31st October on halloween itself and it would be such a treat to take her there on her first birthday and get her a special halloween bear.
My little boy was treated once by his Nanny and his favourite part was pressing the pedal to fill the teddy (or in case dog) with the stuffing. He named him giggles because he put a giggle noise in him! The twins have not yet been.
My son is 3, we have only been able to afford to go one time. He loved the whole idea of creating something himself. Stuffing it, putting love in it, washing it, naming it! but i think most of all picking out his doggys clothes was his fav. he got shoes, glasses, a hat, it was so great. He loves thats dog and sleeps with it every night! we would love to go back!
My son loves seeing the bears getting filled and giving it a heart! @goriami
What doesn’t she love, should be the question! We can’t go past Build-a-Bear without having a browse. There’s nothing she doesn’t absolutely need for her bears, including yet another friend for them.
My children love the planning stage, thinking of the personality that they are about to bring to life, then it’s all about the outfit. By the time they’re are handed the birth certificate my children are absolutely convinced they’ve created their own new best friend. And of course their friend comes even more to life when they log on to buildabearville online and help their new friends have a social life! It’s well thought out and the bears are good quality so I am happy with it too!
My daughter will be 5 next month and has never experienced a Build a Bear workshop. I would love to win her one as it would be a great surprise with her birthday coming up in October.
I’m sure she would be in girly heaven picking an outfit & accessories! Thank you @KiwiKotiroUK
Can you believe that I have never been in a build a bear shop and my children are 6 and 3! This surely needs to change!! My children would love it if we won this competition.
Mine love the whole experience – from choosing which bear to make, to watch it get filled and then giving it its own heart filled with love! I think our build a bears are loved that little bit more because of this!
It’s choosing the outfit that’s the biggest headache, but a bit of teddy retail therapy is always an excuse to go back and browse some more.
