I was watching something or other yesterday and a song came on which Man of the House used to sing to me when I was pregnant with No 1 Son. (I say sing. It was more talking really).
The lyrics are ‘If I was a carpenter, and you were a lady, would you have my baby.’ While he wasn’t a carpenter (although he can put up shelves), and I was only sort of a lady, I was having his baby:

I’m not sure this is really ‘Our Song’ though, because when we were ‘courting’ (hah) we listened to Crowded House by Crowded House (and Woodface) non-stop. Man of the House is a Kiwi and so are the Finn brothers so it seemed apt. And one song, in particular, was rarely off the CD player.
So I thought it would be fun to do a meme. I want to hear about those special songs, and why they’re important to you. First coins in the jukebox go to Jacqui, Ellie, Alice, Nicki and Mel. Link back to this post ladies so I can see the song memories you come up with, and share the love with other bloggers.

I actually love Johnny Cash’s version of this, he sings it with his wife June. Really nice song. I can see how the lyrics appeal. We don’t actually have an ‘our song’, but lots do remind me of things.
Thanks for the tag! There are a couple that spring to mind straight away!
Crowded House reminds me if university. Some great songs on those albums.
