The One with the rubbish week

October 23, 2011

I was a bit silent on the blogging front last week, because basically things seemed to go from bad to worse. No actual tragedy, but just one of those weeks when you feel that you’re definitely not in control of what’s going on.

On Tuesday I went to the doctor’s for what was supposed to be a routine appointment and ended up with a referral for something slightly more worrying.

On Wednesday I managed to knock my netbook off the sofa. It really didn’t fall very hard but the screen is now completely cracked. Meanwhile my pomme phone stopped receiving incoming calls (grrrr modern technology).

On Thursday I decided to ring Child Tax Credits to find out what was going on with our renewal, since we hadn’t heard from them since writing to them in September and it was now long overdue. They informed me that not only had they not received the letter but in fact they’d terminated the claim completely and we’d have to start all over again (aggggh).

And then, to cap it all off, on Friday I received a court summons for non payment of council tax addressed to someone who we’d never heard of but who apparently lives in a property we used to own. Somehow the Council had decided that because he lives in a house we haven’t lived in since 2006, it was appropriate to try to track him down to our current property. The court apperance date for this person is in three weeks time. Words fail me.

So there you are, all in all, a bit of a rubbish week. Things can only get better. Right?
