What is it about Italian hairdressers? I’ve had my hair blow-dried in Italy quite a few times and by Italian hairdressers over here and I swear they have magic fingers, or something, because you go into the salon looking dishevelled and you emerge with glossy tresses that you can see your face in.
So it was when I went to see Roberto at Bob Hair Salon in Clapham (they also have a branch in Parson’s Green). After deftly cutting my hair Roberto, who hails from Sardinia originally, transformed my hair into the most glamorous shiny curls, which lasted me four days until after my cousin’s wedding. It basically made me feel like a million dollars, which is exactly what you want from a hairdresser.
The salon itself has a sort of club vibe – cute yellow chairs and pretty patterned wallpaper, very relaxed with extremely pleasant staff. But for me, the experience was all about Roberto and his amazing skills with a hairdryer and round brush *sigh*. I could try doing it at home, but experience has taught me that I’d never be able to achieve the same results.
