One of the best things about belonging to a blogging community is that you quickly discover just how many great blogs there are out there. Hundreds, in fact. So when I realised it was my turn to host the Brit Mums carnival today – a round up of the best posts from the past month – I decided to make my life a little easier by setting a theme. And as I’m a finalist in the Brit Mums awards, it made sense to make that theme ‘travel’. I left it up to the mummy bloggers to interpret it any way they liked, and here’s what they came up with:
CJ from A Mummy’s View tells us about her family holiday to the Lake District while Jen from Jenography discovers the joys of surfing in Cornwall (really not sure I’m brave enough for that, even with a wet suit *cough*).
Cathy from Mummy Travels talks about her last pre-baby trip ever, to the Azores. Trish at Mumsgoneto is looking forward to her summer holiday in Sweden (one of my favourite countries, too, although I’m not sure I’d be on the Roy Hodgson trail), while Simone at From rat racer to homeworking parent talks about the unexpected joys of car travel.
Florida, and in particular Key West, is somewhere close to my heart (not least because I was hospitalised there when I was pregnant), and I was thrilled to discover Mari from Mari’s World had blogged a very easy recipe for one of my favourite desserts ever – Key Lime Pie. Also in Florida was my dear friend English Mum, who has been discovering Myakka State Park, which sounds amazing.
Kate on Thin Ice talks about a different kind of travelling – life changing journeys. And Maggy at LifeattheZoo shares a lovely photo taken on a recent family holiday, a picture of togetherness.
By the way this photo is of Princess Tiana’s Mardi Gras float at Disney World. Princess and the Frog is of course set in New Orleans. I went there years ago – pre-Katrina – and I remember it as a city filled with music, everywhere we went. I’d love to go back. That’s the beauty of travel – there’s always another journey to look forward to.
Happy reading.
Sorry for such a late ‘Thank you’ but I’ve been on holiday!
Great carnival and thanks for including me too
I love a good blogging carnival and thrilled to be included with these other bloggers.
While there are loads of travel blogs out there, it’s always a challenge to find the ones you really love. Thanks for making that easier, Liz!
Thanks for featuring me and kicking my butt to actually write the blog. I’m not highlighted in pink, can I be pink please??? I have linked this to my blog.
Congrats for the cruise job, I envy the perks!
As promised, a belated thank you for putting this carnival together and including my post.
Thanks for including my post and I will be working my way through the others before the weekend.
Really interesting to see how everyone’s interpreted travel – and has even got me thinking about road trips! (Thanks for including me too)
Aren’t we an intrepid lot! From the Azores (which I’m now going to have to Google) to Cornwall and everywhere in between. Love travelling vicariously! And thanks for the mensh 😉
[…] For me, it was the way travel is about to change for good, for someone else it was about the unexpected joys of car travel and for another blogger, it was about her journey through life – check out mine and the rest here. […]
Thanks lovely looking forward to checking the other posts out and the carnival float looks amazing! 🙂 x
Thanks for putting this together Liz. We’ll highlight on BritMums
