Siberian Petals Facial at the K West Spa

June 28, 2012

The K West Spa is located in the K West Hotel, close to the busy A40 and Shepherd’s Bush. So far, so unglamorous. But once inside the austere glass-fronted 60s building you’re instantly transported to an oasis of calm, an ultra chic escape. The spa has treatment rooms, a fabulous pool, sauna and relaxation area, and the most incredible chill-out room I think I’ve ever seen – and I’ve been to luxury spas all over the world.

I chose the Russie Blanche Siberian Petals Facial to review mostly because of the provenance, figuring that the combination of Russian and French therapies must mean that it actually works. The treatment uses Rose, Black Orchid and Siberian Golden Root, which is known for its complexion-enhancing properties. After thoroughly cleaning the skin therapist Hua began a very firm massage which seemed to go on for a while, before applying a gorgeous-smelling  Cool Effect face mask. While that was working its magic I was given a very nice head and hand massage.

After removing the mask she applied moisturiser and then led me into the relaxation room, telling me to rest for at least half an hour. It was all I could do not to drift off to sleep.

So, did it work? Well, my skin definitely had a nice glow, my pores looked smaller and my eye bags a little less noticeable. I also felt very laid back, which lasted for the rest of the day. If only I’d had a room booked at the hotel as well.

Siberian Petals Facial at the K West Spa, £90 for 55mins.
