One of the advantages of not drinking wine (it makes me sick) is that in addition to champagne and anything dry and sparkly, I get to drink cocktails at dinner without anyone raising an eyebrow. Right now, probably because of the Don Draper influence, I’m into martinis – preferably gin, although I will have vodka ones too, and flavoured. And like James Bond, I prefer my drinks to be shaken not stirred, like this one (left) served at Balthazar Covent Garden.
This raspberry martini I had in Tampa is pretty much my idea of drink heaven – incredibly refreshing, very slightly sweet, with a maraschino cherry at the bottom. Delicious.
In fact I love martinis so much I bought this vintage cocktail shaker and glasses. So elegant – very The Great Gatsby, don’t you think?*
*Disclaimer: They’re actually from Ikea.
This is my entry for The Gallery and the theme this week is ‘drink’.
This post made me giggle, love the vintage (ikea) glasses x
My favourite cocktail is a mojito! Love them. The martinis look good though but I can’t drink vodka, it sends me loopy!
Oooooh Martinis, yummy. If you ever go to a Hard Rock cafe try pomegranate, delish!
Fantastic pictures. Very nice.
Sounds very sophisticated! I like cocktails but if someone else makes them for me, although I could be swayed by the idea to owning a shaker like yours!
I love mocktails! Pina Colada is my fave…or whatever the mocktail version is called!
I love cocktails. A french martini is one of my favourites.
We had a cocktail evening over Xmas with a few friends. It was so much fun for a change. We had a menu of about 15 cocktails…needless to say didn’t quite make it all the way through!
Cocktails are delicious but very, very dangerous! Had a few too many messy nights on these in my youth!
I have never had a cocktail .. i think i need to resolve this quickly!!
Love the ikea set! 😉
