Sex and the City perfume review

August 7, 2012

If I think of New York – and I really do love it there, it’s one of my favourite cities in the world – I guess the first smell that springs to mind is hot dogs. It’s a good job that the new Sex and the City perfume is designed to evoke the TV series.

The bottle is pleasingly chunky and, like the TV series, colourful and pretty, and the fragrance comes in two varieties – Sunrise and Sunset. I’m pretty sure Carrie Bradshaw would approve (although not so sure about SJP). Sunrise has top notes of Mandarin Oil, Italian Bergamot, White Peach and Watery Red Fruits, mid notes of Rose de May, Violet Leaf, Star Jasmine and Lily of the Valley, and White Cedar, Cashmere Musk and Sandalwood in the base note. The fragrance is sweet and floral with a citrus kick and at £22.50 for a 100ml EDT, it would be great for everyday wear.

It’s available from HBO, who created the TV series, and also made another of my favourite shows, The Sopranos. This I can’t imagine as a perfume. At all.
