Off around the world in 80 days

September 13, 2016

Serengeti giraffeOK, I’m only exaggerating slightly, because I am, near as dammit, going around the world in 80 days – I will be coming home/returning to the office in between but that’s basically what I’m doing until Christmas. After spending most of the year in the Med, flying back and forth from Barcelona, Amsterdam, France and so on for work, as well as Miami and the Dominican Republic, I’m now going to be travelling slightly further afield.

In less than 10 days I’m returning to Africa. I’ve been longing for those big skies and to see the magnificent wildlife ever since my first visit to Tanzania last April. This time I’m going to be in Tanzania again but also Kenya, and I’m definitely going to see rhino, so unbelievably excited. I’ve also got a proper camera (woo hoo! – I love this photo of a giraffe but it was taken on my iPad and I’m determined to improve my photography skills) so will be sharing as many photos as possible from that trip. As a firm believer in animal conservation I’m also going to be taking a keen interest in the efforts the various national parks I’m staying at are making to protect the wildlife.

After two weeks in Africa I’m straight on to Abu Dhabi, where I’ll be attending The Travel Convention as a guest of ABTA – my first one, so it’s all very exciting, and we’re staying on Sir Bani Yas Island, close to the Formula One track (I only wish we were going to be there at the same time as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, because since going to the Monaco GP I’ve become F1 OBSESSED).

A short soujourn in London on my journey around the world then it’s back to the Caribbean, where I’ll be visiting a few islands I’ve never visited before, including Puerto Rico and Barbados (I know, scandalous. First time for everything, right?)

This time I’ll also be spending some time in the Blue Mountains before embarking on a cruise to Tasmania, and I’m really looking forward to seeing all the incredible wildlife and scenery.

Finally in December I’m off to Los Angeles and Hawaii – oh I seriously cannot wait to be back in Hawaii, and this time as well as going to O’ahu I’ll also be heading over to Maui and the Big Island, so crazy ‘cited about that trip.

So you see, although I’m not going to South America, I am, more or less going around the world in 80 days. It’s a good job I like flying so much, and be sure to follow me on twitter, instagram and the blog for posts and updates from my travels. I never ever forget how lucky I am to be able to travel around the world and I can’t wait to share my adventures with you.
