Mrs Lister’s Q&A

April 11, 2011

Sometimes a blogger comes up with such a brilliant idea for a meme everyone starts clamouring to do it. Mrs Lister has had such a brilliant idea and I’m delighted to say the lovely Rosie Scribble has tagged me to take part. So here we go:

Which living person do you most admire, and why?

Seth Macfarlane. Anyone who wrote this sketch has to be a comedy genius.

When were you happiest?

I’m generally a very happy person, but I’m particularly content at the moment.

What was your most embarrassing moment?

The Dumbo incident probably comes close.

Aside from property, what’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought?

My car.

What is your most treasured possession?

My sky +. It is the household object I’d save in a fire.

Where would you like to live?

Hawaii.

What’s your favourite smell?

Frangipani.

Who would play you in the film of your life?

In my 20s, Carey Mulligan. In my 30s, Kate Winslet. In my 40s, Julianne Moore. At least they’d all be able to act.

What is your favourite book?

Emma, by Jane Austen.

What is your most unappealing habit?

If you asked my son and his dad, they’d say it’s when I walk into a room and go ‘ummm….’

What would be your fancy dress costume of choice?

Marge Simpson.

What is your earliest memory?

Crying because my favourite teddy bear was hanging on the washing line – I’d spilt juice on it. But I’m not sure if this is because there’s photographic evidence of this.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

I’m from Irish Catholic stock, so guilt goes with the territory.

What do you owe your parents?

My sense of humour.

To whom would you most like to say sorry, and why?

My dad. I’m sorry I wasn’t with him when he died. It was very sudden, and I was thousands of miles away.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

My son.

What does love feel like?

Breathing.

What was the best kiss of your life?

Too many to mention.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

‘Get off the computer’ ‘Stop barking Yoda’ ‘Skinny cap please.’

What is the worst job you’ve done?

Packing sex aids in a health food factory during the uni summer holidays.

If you could edit your past, what would you change?

I would have paid more attention in my Japanese class. I can only really count up to 10.

What is the closest you’ve come to death?

I’ve had a few health scares, but our plane was struck by lightning travelling from New Zealand to Australia once. That was pretty frightening.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

My son.

When did you last cry, and why?

I cry all the time. With laughter mostly.

How do you relax?

Twitter.

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?

Staff.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

It’s a rollercoaster. You’ve got to roll with the punches and celebrate the good times. Alot.

And now I’m tagging the following bloggers – ladies, I look forward to seeing your replies:

Fabulous answers. I’m slightly envious of the answer to your kiss question. And I suppose Frangipani beats tarmac in the smell department.
