It’s my birthday. I’ll cry if I want to.

November 7, 2011

Thank you all for coming. As you’ve probably guessed I’m slightly worse for wear, thanks largely to the Prosecco I’ve been consuming all weekend. Excuse me if I seem a little emotional. It’s probably mascara in my eye from the night before.

Although today is my *cough cough* birthday I don’t actually feel my age. I feel as though I’m still in my 20s, with the world at my feet. My knees are starting to play up a bit but I’m not ready for a zimmer frame just yet. There may be more laughter lines around my eyes but I’m not looking for them.

There are lots of things I still want to achieve, and I will get round to them. This past year hasn’t been plain sailing, but we got there in the end.

More than ever I feel grateful for the amazing opportunities I’ve been given, for my family and friends, and most of all for my beautiful son, who makes me proud to be his mum every single day. Even when he’s telling me to ‘gerroff’ or ‘go away’.

*Cheers*.

    Happy Birthday to you!
Seems to me you have a lot to feel proud, even smug about.
Birthdays are the ideal day to reflect on the past year, so emotions will inevitably run high.
Glad to hear you still feel as though you’re in your twenties. I’ve felt 40+ since I was 18!
Cheers! Have a lovely day, act like a spoiled brat. “But it’s MY BIRTHDAY”.
