What is it about dogs, that they have to go out in the midday sun? Yoda sits in the sun until he bakes, panting like a mad thing, and then finally he moves into the shade (always with his beloved bone, which he’s been working on for about a year). I love how he seems to laugh in the sunshine – it makes dogs as happy as the rest of us.
The bottom photo was unintentionally arty. I was trying to take a picture of something in the sky and Yoda jogged my hand and I ended up with this shot. But actually, I quite like it – the contrast of the textures of the pavement and road with the softness of the dog’s head and the shadow of the street lamp.
This is my entry for The Gallery – the theme this week is sunshine.
Awww, gorgeous photos! Our oldest dog, Molly, is the same; she sits panting in the sun, usually flat out as though she’s going to pass out, and it never seems to bother her. She has a very thick, long haired coat as well so I don’t know what her secret is!!

Aaahh sweet!
My dog does the same. He’s black with a thick double coat so bakes big style!
Lovely pictures
Lovely dog enjoying the heat, looks like a lovely family pet
My two are just the same. They go and lie right in the hottest place, then pant like crazy! Dumb doggies!
My Old Boy finds the hot weather too hot. I will get him shaved once I’m convinced it’s here to stay.
The Lurcher quite enjoys it but has alarming fits of panting now and again!
