On Sunday morning I happened to look out of the patio doors when I saw an unexpected visitor: a fox. We get all kinds of wildlife in our garden, everything from squirrels to blue jays, and we live next door to a family of foxes (my neighbour’s garden is very overgrown), so we hear them crying a lot. But this was the first time I’d seen one of them in such close proximity.
As you can see he’s a fine looking creature, with a beautiful coat and markings; he seemed completely unpeturbed by either me taking photos of him through the window or the dog sticking his head out of the cat flap to get a better look. Instead he just carried on eating the pears that have fallen on the lawn. Until I opened the back door: then he ran for his life.
*This is my entry to the Gallery – the theme this week is ‘autumn’.
Great shot!
I think he looks young. Nice shot.
You were lucky you had your camera hand! He really was a handsome fellow. Looks like a country fox, not an urban one…
What a great shot. I posted one a couple of months back of a fox in my neighbours garden. They are fairly prolific in this area and fairly bold with it too

There is something very special about a fox.
Lovely photo that captures the character well.
That is a wonderful picture…… you must have been amazed to see the fox so close.

i’ve got a dog who looks just like a baby fox!!
Great shot, I would fail to get a shot like that seen as I would have been running in the other direction.
Lovely pic! He looks so animated.
Great photo! We had a family of foxes living next door to us in our last house, and the cubs would come and play in our garden 🙂
Lovely photo. Great minds think alike, I did the wildlife in my garden this week too!
Wow what a great visitor. We see lots where we live and always hear them at nights. Great photo.
I’m surprised you got a photo of him. Foxes around here live in fear of our dogs!
What a fabulous capture, a beautiful one too. Always amazes me when they just stop and stare like that 🙂
Fab shot, we’ll captured
Lovely photo! I’m surprised he didn’t make a run for it when you started taking photos.
A great shot – well caught!
