Disney Epic Mickey 2 The Power of Two review

November 30, 2012

We loved the first Epic Mickey game, which saw the original Mickey Mouse entering Cartoon Wasteland, a world populated by long forgotten Disney characters, doing battle with the Mad Doctor and the Blot armed with only a magic paintbrush. In this game (NB we played the XBox360 version) Mickey teams up with one of the first ever Disney character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, in a battle to save Wasteland. Oswald has a powerful remote control that enables him to control electricity, so together the two make a heroic and formidable team.

What I think is great about this game is that because it’s based on the original Walt Disney animation it has a very different feel to it – it’s a little dark, so perfect for 9-11-year-olds, but it’s a U cert so really, the threat is very mild. And the graphics are brilliant.

Since we were sent a copy of Disney Epic Mickey 2 The Power of Two to review Ben, nine, has not stopped playing it, which says it all really (although he’s too young to play it on XBox Live – I’d say most children under the age of 11 probably are, unless they’re supervised the whole time.) You can play it as a single player, although Ben’s been playing it mostly with his older sister, Harriet. Would make a great Christmas stocking filler. 5 stars.
