Christmas jumper day 2013

December 12, 2013

Save the Children Christmas jumper dayAs you know this year we’re supporting Save The Children in our house as our Christmas charity. And tomorrow (or today, if you’re reading this on Friday 13 December) it’s Christmas jumper day 2013: a chance for you to show your support for Save the Children by wearing a Christmas jumper, and donating £1 to the charity to help children around the world.

National Lampoon's Christmas VacationHere’s how it works. You wear a Christmas jumper – the more Christmassy and OTT the better (this photo should give you the idea. DISCLAIMER: this is not my actual family.) You may need to raid the back of your wardrobe, or get out some tinsel and cotton wool and customise a plain one. This really shouldn’t take you longer than five minutes. Don’t make it your life’s work, it’s supposed to be FUN.

And then you donate £1 (or more, if you like) to Save the Children. 99p of EVERY POUND donated goes towards helping children, and this is what just £1 can buy:

*One day’s high-nutrient food to help treat a severely malnourished child

*Nine sachets of oral rehydration treatment for children suffering from life-threatening diarrhoea

*Antibiotics to treat three newborn babies with potentially deadly infections

It really is that simple. You can donate by texting TEAMTHINLYS to 70050 or WOOLLY to 70050 to donate £1 (you’ll be billed £1 plus standard rate text message. Save the Children will receive at least £0.99 depending on your network), or alternatively click on this link. And if you happen to be in Westfield London on Christmas Jumper Day 2013 there’s all kinds of cool stuff going on to mark a very special idea and generate some more Christmas spirit in aid of a good cause.
