Brighton Beach memories

May 23, 2012

When Tara Lara announced that the 100th Gallery theme would be ‘picture postcard’ I knew straight away which image I wanted to use.

This photo of No 1 Son makes me smile every time I look at it.

I took it on Brighton Beach on one of those gorgeous sunny but windy days and the sky was just the most perfect shade of blue. He was at an age where he really didn’t mind having his photo taken (enjoy it while it lasts), and I’m not sure what we were saying but I can see the dimple in his cheeks which means he was trying not to laugh. We had a lovely day playing on the pebbles, visiting the little fair on the pier and enjoying the train ride.

A picture postcard kind of a day, preserved in a photo I’ll keep forever.

It’s all the memories behind a photo which make it so special. Such a sweet picture.

Sounds to me like it was a day you won’t forget in a hurry. These are the reasons I carry a camera everywhere, even if it drives my kids potty.
