This weather has caught me a little by surprise, so much so that I’m not… er… ‘prepared’ for it, beauty wise. Basically I need some waxing, mostly on my legs, but that’s not happening until Thursday.
But it’s VERY hot. So yesterday I went out sans tights. To my shock, I noticed passers-by (women)… looking – actually staring – at my hairy legs. (They’re not *that* hairy, btw, but they are hairy.) Like I’d committed a grooming sin, or something.
Now obviously I get that some women think nothing of letting it all hang out, hair wise, but I’m not one of them. I like the feeling, and look, of very smooth skin, and I prefer waxing to shaving. So for the rest of the week, until Wax Day, I will be in my black tights as usual.
It got me thinking though. Do you bare between waxes (or shaving, or whatever)? Or are you happy to go au naturel? And why should body hair on women still be an issue, in 2013, anyway?
(PS, if you don’t wax, and you’re wondering what it feels like, this brilliant clip from Friends gives a pretty good idea.)

I’ve never waxed and never will, my pain threshold is too low! I couldn’t go bare without having a good shave. But I don’t bare my legs much anyway unless I’m swimming. Mind you, we’re going to Kos in August and my legs will be bare for 2 weeks!
My friend is a shaver, I wish she could be more organised and become a regular waxer.
When I took the children swimming recently there was a woman with underarm hair, she could have actually plaited it. It was floating in the water behind her. It’s not a good look at all. She is not my friend.
