For anyone who was transfixed by the achievements at London 2012, watching the Olympians and Paralympians break record after record was something that will stay with us forever. But of course, there are other kinds of records that can be broken, too. When my sister met the man who was to become her husband, for example, one of the things he told her to impress her was that his family was in the Guinness Book of Records because one of his relatives from the Island of Skye had had the most number of children at the time (this was actually true, and it obviously worked, because they’ve been together ever since and went on to have three children of their own). Let’s face it, there is something very cool about being a record-breaker, and having your achievement immortalised. And human beings are pretty amazing, aren’t they?
Well, if you and your family have ever fantasised about being a record-breaker, here’s your big chance, and you don’t even have to sit in a bathtub of cold beans to take part. Guinness World Records are looking for 50,000 people to help set the record for the Largest Online Photo Album of Feet. Yes that’s right, feet.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get your kids involved in something that they’ll be able to talk about for years – and give them an opportunity to achieve an amazing feat (pun intended) that they can feel proud of.
To be a part of this unique record-breaking experience all you and your kids have to do is submit a photo of your feet onto their website. If you’d rather not show off your bare feet (and to be honest mine are not that pretty, even with polish on the toenails), then there’s also an option to print out a feet template which you can all colour in or decorate – then simply upload a photo of the template to the website. It’s as straightforward as that, and could bag you and your family a place in the next edition of the world’s best-selling book.
Here’s a little video that explains the challenge – it’s a great fun thing for the summer holidays, too. Do let me know if you decide to take part 🙂
