Loving these gorgeous beach towels

March 2, 2013

Although as a family we love staying in hotels and being thoroughly pampered, we do sometimes go self-catering to cottages in the country, usually by the sea. And of course that means you have to be a little more careful about planning what to take, because there’s a limit to how much you can put in the back of a car *cough*.

If you’re self-catering in the UK, inevitably you have to plan for all weathers (we once spent an entire holiday in Scotland dressed in cagoules, it rained so much). But I think most of us are fairly optimistic – so it’s always good to take beach or swimming pool essentials too. Buckets and spades, which tend to have a fairly short shelf-life, can be bought cheaply at the seaside, but things you’ll want to keep for a bit longer, for example cossies and beach towels, are worth buying before you travel.

If you’re looking for new beach towels, John Lewis has a great selection, including this fabulous Orla Kiely Steam beach towel (£45)…
