Escape to the Canary Islands this winter

Canary IslandsIsn’t this weather GRIM? I feel like I’m in living in an episode of a Nordic crime thriller, the sky is so grey and miserable.

I’m sure, like me, you’re dreaming of blue skies, sunshine and relaxing by a pool, then one of the easiest options for guaranteed winter sun has to be glorious Las Canteras Beach on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. The Canary Islands are just a few hours from the UK, but during January the beaches come alive with stunning sand sculptures, plus of course there are breathtaking landscapes and temperatures of  22°C. In WINTER.

I can’t think of anything better than spending the winter in a sun-kissed paradise, and the setting the sand sculptures provides depicting the nativity is simply incredible – sculptors from all over the world travel to Gran Canaria to create these exceptional, delicate sand sculptures. All of the Canary Islands boast wonderful food and rich culture – and they’re rich in flora and fauna, so nature lovers will be in their element with four National Parks to explore, world heritage zones, and biosphere reserves. If you’re looking for a lovely, relaxing holiday in the sun within easy reach of the UK this winter, then the Canaries offer the perfect setting.
