A genius idea
When you become a parent I think you start to really think about the environment and being green – not that you didn’t before, of course, but suddenly it becomes so much more important to protect the world your children are growing up in and reduce your carbon footprint. And one of the things you can’t escape is that if you use disposable nappies, the chances are they will end up on a landfill somewhere; cloth nappies may be much greener but as you’re washing them you’re probably using a lot of electricity anyway – plus you always have to make sure you have enough clean ones, just in case. Let’s face it, they’re not very convenient.
We are, thankfully, WAY past the nappy stage but I do know quite a few mums with very small people and last week one of them told me about this simply genius disposable nappy recyling service called Nappies2go.
The brainchild of parents Matt and Clare Naunton, their delivery and collection service means that fresh, clean nappies are delivered to parents’ doors, and – here’s the best bit - their babies’ used nappies are collected as well. The used nappies are then sent to a dedicated nappy recycling facility where 100% of the nappies are recycled. Isn’t that brilliant? So it’s much easier to be green.
